Programs for the 4th Month

April showers is supposed to bring May flowers but in Texas the Bluebonnets are already out and it's a challenging month for programming with state testing and attending the awesome Texas Library Association convention in San Antonio  Sometimes it's the quick and easy programs that can make the biggest difference.  My plans for the month include:
  • Spine label poetry displays
  • Poem in Your Pocket Day celebration
  • Collaboration in writing a school-wide poem through Google form and sharing this via Google Hang Outs with other Middle Schools.  I am expanding on the Poem In Your Pocket activity from last year.
  • Attending and presenting at TLA. Please join me on 4/8 for Anytime, Anywhere Professional Development for School Librarians @ 2:00 - 3:20 p.m., on 4/10 for Balancing Books & eContent: The Future of Acquisitions @ 8:00 - 9:50 a.m., and Put the "e" in Your Books: Integrating eBooks into Your Library on 4/11 @ 10:00 - 11:20 a.m. (Two eBook gift cards will be given out as door prizes in this session thanks to a kind vendor. You must be present to win.)

Here are a few suggested April celebrations that might be interesting to incorporate into your library programming for April. A good rule  to follow is to alternate departments to highlight for the month when planning your programs.
